Lagos.........
17th Century fort and tumbledown walls guard the
harbour entrance of Lagos, an exciting mix of old and new Portugal. It has
classic flower-decked squares and whitewashed buildings – and a magnificent new
marina.
The small town beach, just beyond the fort, is often
uncrowded: there’s always space at Meia Praia, to the east. You can get there by
car, bus, taxi or ferry in high season.
Cocktails are popular in the plentiful bars, the measures
are generous and most stay open until 02:00 or later. Lagos has plenty of
restaurants to tempt you, what’s more the quality of the food on offer and the
excellent value will have you spoilt for choice.
Out and about.........

Portugal’s sunny south coast has a friendly and relaxed
atmosphere and some of the best beaches in Europe. The coastline is stunning –
long stretches of golden sands which shelve gently into refreshing seas and
secluded bays framed by red sandstone cliffs (a good example of these bays can
be found only five minutes form the apartment). The waters are perfect for
swimming snorkelling, (We recommend Praia da Rocha for snorkelling).
Other fun things to do.........
Take a boat trip, take the family to one of the fantastic
local water parks (allow a whole day), if golf is your thing please see the
golfing page for all the information on local courses as you will already know
that the Algarve boasts some of the best courses in the world.
